UPDATE – June 2026

Over the past few months, Lilou has been through more than any child should ever have to endure. She is only 13 years old. While other children dream about holidays, spending time with friends, and their future, Lilou was forced to face the devastating reality that she is suffering from a life-threatening form of cancer. Despite everything, she has never given up.

The cancer spread, and metastases developed. Countless examinations, biopsies, hospital stays, chemotherapy treatments and radiotherapy sessions followed. Lilou has not only been fighting for her life, but also for her eyesight. Among other areas, she had to undergo radiotherapy to her eye sockets, chest and lymph nodes.

Then, at last, there was a glimmer of hope: the metastases began to shrink. The tumour lesions became smaller, and Lilou was selected to receive an innovative immunotherapy alongside a personalised cancer vaccine.

We thought life might finally become a little easier – but fate had other plans.

This summer, Lilou’s eyesight deteriorated once again. She also began suffering from severe pain in her left eye. An MRI scan of the orbit revealed new masses – a tumour measuring approximately 3 cm, as well as another lesion of around 1 cm within the eye socket. An urgent biopsy had to be performed so that her doctors could determine the most appropriate course of treatment.

Everyday is a battle

Despite the pain, fear and exhaustion, Lilou has not lost her determination to live. She wants to live. She still has so many dreams.

Our daily life now revolves almost entirely around travelling between our home and various hospitals. Over the past few months, the costs of treatment, travel, medication, accommodation and everyday living expenses have increased dramatically.

On top of this, the car we relied on to take Lilou to her treatments has broken down. We urgently need a reliable means of transport, as we regularly have to travel long distances between Berlin and specialist treatment centres. During these journeys, Lilou often needs to stop to rest or lie down when the pain or the side effects of her treatment become overwhelming.

That is why we are once again asking for your support
